Latency
The time it takes for a small piece of data to travel from your device to a server and back, usually measured in milliseconds.
Latency is different from bandwidth — a connection can move a lot of data per second while still having a slow round-trip response time. For streaming specifically, latency contributes to the small delay between a live event happening and it appearing on your screen, though it matters less for playback smoothness than raw bandwidth and connection stability do.
