Fixing Common Buffering Issues: A Troubleshooting Checklist

Buffering is almost always a network issue rather than a content issue. Work through this checklist in order — most problems are solved by step two or three.

1. Restart your router

Unplug it for 30 seconds. This clears a surprising number of connection issues.

2. Check your speed

Run a speed test on the same device you're streaming on. You want at least 15 Mbps for HD, 25+ Mbps for 4K.

3. Switch to Ethernet or 5GHz Wi-Fi

Wired connections are the most reliable. If Wi-Fi is your only option, use the 5GHz band and stay close to the router.

4. Close background apps

Other apps or devices on your network competing for bandwidth (large downloads, other streams) can starve your stream.

5. Message us
