Multicast

A delivery method where one shared signal is sent to many viewers simultaneously, closer to traditional broadcast.

Multicast is efficient for a managed network sending identical content to many subscribers at once, since the network only carries one copy of the stream rather than a separate copy per viewer. It's more common in telecom-operated IPTV networks than in independent, internet-delivered IPTV, which almost universally uses unicast instead.
