Bitrate

The amount of data used per second of video or audio, directly affecting both quality and bandwidth requirements.

Higher bitrate generally means better quality at a given resolution, up to a point of diminishing returns. Bitrate and resolution are independent settings — a provider can deliver 4K at a bitrate too low to look genuinely sharp, which is why the resolution number alone doesn't guarantee quality.
