Smart TV Setup Guide: First-Time Configuration for Streaming

By Marcus ReyesAugust 3, 20261 min read

This covers first-time setup basics on a new Smart TV. If you already have a TV configured and want to optimize its settings for smoother streaming, see our Smart TV settings guide instead.

1. Connect to your network first

Use Ethernet if the TV is near your router, or 5GHz Wi-Fi otherwise — see our Ethernet vs Wi-Fi guide.

2. Install software updates

New TVs often ship with outdated firmware. Check for and install updates before installing apps, since updates sometimes improve app store compatibility.

3. Install your IPTV player app

Search your TV's app store — Samsung, LG, or Android TV depending on your model — for a compatible player. See our Downloads page.

4. Enter your credentials

Add your playlist URL in the app's setup screen. New to IPTVLinux? See Getting Started with IPTVLinux.
