HDR (High Dynamic Range)

A display technology that expands the range of brightness and color a screen can show, producing more realistic highlights and shadow detail.

HDR content carries additional metadata describing how bright and colorful specific parts of the image should be, which a compatible display uses to render a more lifelike picture than standard dynamic range. Several competing HDR formats exist, including HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision, each handling this metadata slightly differently.
